Richard Pankhurst the founder and first Director of the Institute of Ethiopian Studies of Addis Ababa Uiversity. He has lived in Ethiopia for over thirty years. He is currently Chair of the Society of Friends of the Institute. His published writings include numerous publications: Sylvia Pankhurst: Counsel for Ethiopia and Diary of a Journey to Abyssinia 1868. Editred and wrote Commentary, Introduction and/or Annotation: Ethiopia in Wartime: 1941-1942, Letters from Abyssinia: 1916 and 1917 and Abyssinia, 1867-1868: Artists on Campaign.
